It is distilled from molasses known locally as "black gold", the black gold quo comes from one of the many local mills on the island. Aged in American oak barrels from where the master blender then selects the most expressive barrels, those that reveal the strongest vanilla and fruit notes. To this blend is added a little bit of local sugar cane. It is then cold filtered and bottled at
